Roleplay is most useful when the practice buyer behaves like a real one: busy, sceptical in a specific way and focused on their own job. The scenarios below match the buyer personas available for rehearsal in Sales Copilot. Each lists what that buyer tends to push on and a goal for one practice round.
How to run a useful practice round
Pick one scenario and one goal. Rehearse for a few minutes, review the result and repeat with a single change. Practising everything at once makes it hard to tell what improved.
In Sales Copilot, rehearsal uses the same Prospect context, materials and Playbook as the live call. You speak through your microphone and the AI buyer replies in text. Choose Cooperative, Realistic or Challenging difficulty. After the round, the Debrief points to evidence from the conversation and a practice focus for next time.
Early-stage conversations
General customer: a broad first conversation. Practise opening the call, confirming the reason for it and earning the right to ask deeper questions.
Discovery call: a department leader with a real operational problem. Practise asking for a recent example and following it step by step before mentioning your product.
Evaluation conversations
Technical buyer: the person accountable for making it work. Expect questions about setup, limits and how it fits existing tools. Practise answering only what your materials support and offering to follow up on the rest.
Economic buyer: thinks in cost, impact and risk. Practise connecting the buyer's own description of the problem to an outcome they care about, without inventing savings figures.
Competitive evaluation: comparing you with an incumbent and another vendor. Practise asking what works today before explaining any difference.
Late-stage conversations
Security review: a stakeholder who runs their own review. Practise describing your data handling accurately and pointing to written policies rather than improvising reassurances.
Procurement: the business wants it; procurement wants terms. Practise staying within what you are authorised to offer and asking which terms matter most before conceding anything.
Renewal conversation: an existing customer with mixed adoption. Practise acknowledging where the product fell short and agreeing on what would make renewal worthwhile.
Practise as a team
Managers can share Playbooks and materials in a Team workspace so everyone rehearses with the same context. New Team sessions are shared with their author and the Team's owner and administrators for review after the session, and the author can make a session private.
Pick one scenario per week for the whole team, such as procurement or security review. Comparing several debriefs on the same scenario shows which answers held up and which need a better source.
