Gong and Sales Copilot by Cluely AI are not built to do the same job. Gong records your calls and analyses them across a revenue team. Sales Copilot puts an answer on your screen as soon as the buyer asks a question, while the call is still live. That difference in timing shapes most of the comparison below, which uses Gong's own public pages, checked on November 4, 2026.

The short version

Choose Gong if your priority is recording customer conversations, analysing them across the team, forecasting and managing pipeline. Choose Sales Copilot if your priority is having an answer in front of the rep when the buyer asks a hard question, from your own materials, with practice before the call and a Debrief after it. Some teams will want both; they do different jobs.

How Gong works

Gong describes itself as a Revenue AI OS, with products for engagement, forecasting, enablement and AI agents. Once connected to your company's email provider, it scans calendars for meetings to record. In a video meeting it either joins as a virtual participant (in Zoom, the Gong recorder appears in the attendee list) or, with supported providers such as Zoom, records through the conferencing platform and retrieves the recording after the call. It also records inbound and outbound phone calls.

When a meeting ends, the recording, transcript and AI content are available on the call page. Gong stores recordings and transcripts in the cloud with customizable retention policies, and its analysis flags stalled deals, competitor mentions and missing stakeholders across the pipeline.

During a call, Gong's help centre describes note-taking, automatic points of interest and trackers, and a Gong app for Zoom for companies that use Zoom's native recorder. Gong's blog describes real-time alerts in that app, such as a reminder when the rep is talking more than Gong suggests or when the most important stakeholder has gone quiet. Before calls, Gong Enable includes AI Trainer, a role-play simulation based on actual sales calls, and Gong's July 2026 update added Dry Run, an AI practice session for an upcoming meeting.

How Sales Copilot works

Before a call, you set up a Prospect: a brief, materials from your Library and a Playbook for the conversation. You can rehearse with an AI buyer that uses the same context and replies in text while you answer aloud.

During the live call, Sales Copilot listens and, as soon as the buyer asks a question, shows one focus card: what they asked, a line to say (the cockpit labels it Say), up to two supporting points and, when it helps, a question to ask back (Ask). It works from the conversation, your Prospect brief, your Library and your Playbook. You read it and say it your way. There is no live transcript on screen; the transcript is in the Debrief.

After the call, the Debrief ties its feedback to evidence in the transcript, alongside the Account Action Plan. Sales Copilot is not a forecasting, pipeline or call-library tool. If you need a searchable archive of call recordings across the organisation, Gong covers that and Sales Copilot does not.

Capture without a meeting bot

Gong records the meeting: as a participant that appears in the attendee list, or through the platform's own recording. Either way the recording is kept for the call page.

Sales Copilot has no meeting bot. It runs in your browser, where live calls need Chrome or Edge on a computer and you share the meeting's tab, or as a desktop app for Mac and Windows that hears your microphone and your computer's call audio without sharing a tab. It works with calls in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and other meeting apps through that audio; it is not a native integration with any of them.

Live audio is sent for speech recognition to produce text. Raw audio, recordings, screenshots and screen video are not stored; transcripts, Debriefs and derived memory are. With either tool, notice and consent are the responsibility of the rep and their organisation.

Pricing

Gong does not list prices. Its pricing page says licences are priced per user, with a platform fee based on the number of users supported, and asks you to request a proposal.

Sales Copilot publishes its Pro and Team prices on the pricing page. Pro covers one person's Personal workspace; Team is priced per seat with a two-seat minimum and covers shared Playbooks and materials. There is no free trial; refund requests are accepted within 14 days.

Questions to settle before you choose

Start from the moment you want to improve. If deals slip because nobody can see what happened on calls, an analysis platform addresses that. If reps lose ground because they cannot answer a pricing, security or competitor question on the spot, live assistance addresses that.

  • Do you need recordings kept, or would transcripts and Debriefs be enough?
  • Is a recorder joining customer meetings acceptable to your buyers?
  • Do your reps need an answer during the call, or mainly coaching and analysis afterwards?
  • Who needs access: individual reps, managers, or the whole revenue organisation?
  • Do you need published prices for a small team, or an enterprise agreement?

Frequently asked questions

Does Gong have real-time features?

Yes. Gong's help centre describes note-taking during a recorded call and a Gong app for Zoom for companies that use Zoom's native recorder, and Gong's blog describes real-time alerts in that app, such as talk-time reminders. Sales Copilot's live view is different: one focus card with a line to say, up to two points and a question to ask back, as soon as the buyer asks a question.

Does Sales Copilot record my calls?

No. Live audio is sent for speech recognition to produce text, and raw audio, recordings, screenshots and screen video are not stored. Transcripts, Debriefs and derived memory are stored in your workspace. Gong keeps call recordings and transcripts in the cloud with customizable retention. See the Privacy Policy for details.

Can I use Gong and Sales Copilot together?

They cover different moments. Gong captures and analyses calls for the team; Sales Copilot helps the rep during the call and debriefs it afterwards. Check with your organisation how both tools fit your notice and consent obligations before using them on the same calls.

Which meeting apps does Sales Copilot work with?

It works with calls in Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams and other meeting apps through the audio on your computer in the desktop app for Mac and Windows, or by sharing the meeting's browser tab in Chrome or Edge. These are not native integrations, and no bot joins the meeting.

Is there a team plan for Sales Copilot?

Yes. Team is priced per seat with a two-seat minimum and lets the team share Playbooks and materials. Pro is for one person's Personal workspace. Both prices are on the pricing page; there is no free trial.
