Gong and Sales Copilot both work with sales calls, but they are built for different moments. Gong records calls and analyses them across a revenue team. Sales Copilot helps the rep while the call is happening, with suggested answers on screen. This page compares the two from public information, checked on October 23, 2026. If you are looking for a Gong alternative because you want help during the call itself, this is the difference that matters.
The short version
Choose Gong if your priority is recording every call, analysing them across the team, forecasting and managing pipeline. Choose Sales Copilot if your priority is answering the buyer's question while they are still on the line, preparing with your own materials and practising difficult conversations beforehand. Some teams will want both; they do different jobs.

How Gong works
Gong uses your calendar to find meetings to record. For video meetings it either joins as a recorder participant or, on supported providers such as Zoom, uses the platform's native recording and retrieves it after the call. It also records phone calls. Recordings, transcripts and AI content are stored and available on the call page after the call.
Gong describes itself as an AI operating system for revenue teams, with products for forecasting, engagement, enablement and agents. Its Zoom app adds some real-time alerts during the call, such as a reminder to let the prospect talk or a notice that a key stakeholder has gone quiet. Pricing is by quote: per-user licences plus a platform fee.
How Sales Copilot works
Sales Copilot is a desktop app. During a live call it hears your microphone and system audio, transcribes the conversation and puts suggested answers on your screen, drawing on the Prospect brief, materials from your Library and the Playbook you selected. You can ask for help, stop a response or steer it. No bot joins the meeting.
Before the call, you can rehearse with an AI buyer that replies in text, using the same context. After the call, the Debrief points to evidence in the transcript and suggests a focus for next time. In a Team workspace, new sessions are shared with the author and the Team's owner and administrators for review, and the author can make a session private.
Sales Copilot does not record raw audio or store recordings, and it is not a forecasting, pipeline or call-library tool. If you need a searchable archive of call recordings across the organisation, that is Gong's territory.
Questions to settle before you choose
Start from the moment you want to improve. If deals slip because nobody can see what happened on calls, an analysis platform addresses that. If reps lose deals because they cannot answer a pricing, security or competitor question on the spot, live assistance addresses that.
- Do you need recordings kept, or would transcripts and debriefs be enough?
- Is a bot joining customer meetings acceptable to your buyers?
- Do your reps need help during the call, or mainly coaching afterwards?
- Who needs access: individual reps, managers, or the whole revenue organisation?
- Do you need published pricing for a small team, or an enterprise agreement?
